The Department of Housing |
The Department of Housing
is a NSW State department that assists people who are on low to moderate
income with accommodation. They provide different types of assistance.
These include the following:
1. Public Housing: every
permanent resident or citizen of Australia is eligible to apply for
public housing. He/she needs to fill in an application form. It is
government housing and can be rented at 20% of the Centrelink payment.
It has wait turn period which may take few years.
2. Priority Housing: To be eligible, you should be on the Housing
Register and have exceptional circumstances and fit the housing
conditions and criteria in order to be offered public housing ahead of
people on the waiting list.
3. Rent Assistance: this may be for a maximum of four weeks bond and two
weeks rent in advance. The assistance provided may also include removal
expenses and rental arrears.

Hume Community Housing |
Hume Community Housing is
non-government agency that provides community housing. All eligible
people for the Department of Housing assistance can apply to Hume
Community Housing by completing the necessary application forms. They
have their own eligibility criteria, one of which is that your name must
be on the Department’s register, and you must be on low income, but the
rental assistance is 25% of the Centrelink payments. Their address is:
